Letter to A Mentor Draft 1
Dear Mentor,
Hey, my name is Jocelyn, I've just turned 16 and I'm already being pressured into picking a future career for myself, exciting, right? Well, ever since a few years ago I realized I had so much interest in languages, I've always enjoyed learning about cultures and different people and it never failed to intrigue me when I heard a new language. I genuinely enjoy learning about cultures and such, so I took it upon myself to discover what I could achieve with my interests. I heard about translators/interpreters and it kind of made me feel reassured. When I say this, I genuinely mean it- I didn't know what to do with myself until a few weeks ago, my Spanish teacher assigned a project about our future careers and what we would be interested in for our future selves, I didn't know it until then but I'm leaning towards the idea of becoming an interpreter/translator. The thought of being able to help others understand something no matter what language barrier there is really makes me happy, it's something I could pursue if I really wanted to- and I kind of really do. I'm fluent in English and I grew up speaking Spanish my whole life, I'm trying to learn other languages as well but it's not that easy, but hey, I'll keep trying... right?
