Anatomy of a Persuasive Argument
Ethos: Your parents are quite possibly some of the hardest people to convince, so in order to be able to have their permission to do things they have to know you're responsible enough. You must establish trust, get them to know that you are reliable and trustworthy to make responsible decisions, such as in a situation of wanting to go to a party.
Pathos: Using emotions in order to get what you want can be hard to do, especially if your parents don't believe you. Using the example of partying, let your parents know that you want to go because you want to feel included, you don't want to feel guilty or sad for not going to a fun event that everyone else is going to. Although that sounds a bit harsh, but in this case you probably really want to go to that party.
Logos: To show your parents that them agreeing to your decision is a smart move, let them know the reasons on how logical the situation is. Going to a party doesn't seem to have many logical appeals but you can say that it's a way to make more friends, increase your social skills and meet new people that you can get along well with.
Kairos: Currently, in this society, partying is very popular. It's been used as a way to have fun, meet new friends and overall just feel included. Explain to your parents that partying is an innocent hangout that is trending and you just want to fit in, it's a guiltless act.
