On Self-Reliance Part III
"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind"
- striving to not feel hypocrisy within ourselves, not just the feeling of being honest
Emerson has a strong belief that all humans are good
-everything for him is trivial and changes overtime
*Don't act like someone you aren't [as is: don't act like you're good when you actually aren't]
VIRTUES: honorable or good qualities about someone
sometimes people aren't good but they do a good deed to make up for it
not only do people stop speaking like themselves, we get tired of saying "no"
"For nonconformity the world whips you with its displeasure"
it's the people of a certain temperament that won't attack you but will explore
"the game is BIGGER than the player"
