Gatsby prompts further thinking
I think the ideas that we've read/discussed that could be worth writing about is how far people will truly go for love. According to the main character, Gatsby, people can and will go pretty far in order to finally reach their lovers after such a long time. Also just the topic of money in general, this book is almost solely based on wealth and how people use their money advantages to get what they want, including buying incredibly expensive houses and hosting amazing parties, and even buying unnecessary items in order to impress and catch the attention of those who you want. Both topics, however, relate to one thing and that is happiness. Throughout the whole book so far we're all trying to figure out who is actually happy and who isn't, there could be those who fake it or those who experience it for a short amount of time, but who can truly be labelled happy?
- What impact does money have on the plot and characters?
- How does love influence the actions/characteristics of the characters?
- Who can actually be considered happy out of all the characters in the book?
