The Poems of Emily Dickinson
In zoom today, the class went over some poems from Emily Dickinson. One of them was titled "Hope is the thing with feathers" and the other was titled "Because I could not stop for Death." Both poems are different because they talk about different subjects, but they have things in common. They both deal with topics that exist in our lives. When I read "Hope is the thing with feathers" I felt touched, in a sense. It talks about how hope is everywhere, even if it's small or big, even through a sad storm or not, the sense of hope always lingers. I think it's a nice poem to read when you're feeling down or when you just need something to remind you to not give up. The next poem was "Because I could not stop for Death" I don't really know how to interpret this poem, but obviously, it talks about death. Emily writes about how she's riding in a carriage with Death as they pass by a lot of different scenarios, almost like they're going through memories? Maybe it's like Death is taking her through her "Life flashing before your eyes" moment that a lot of people say happens when others die.
